She is currently developing the Red Letter Lectionary, a creative re-imagining of Gospel readings that centers the narrative flow and radical voice of Jesus beyond inherited structures. Whether preaching, organizing, or riffing on church absurdities, Luana invites communities to laugh, risk, and imagine what faithful life could look like if we were truly unbound.

Experience DescriptionUNBOUND from Empire: The Red Letter Lectionary The Red Letter Lectionary is a Christ centered proclamation cycle in which each week pairs a Gospel lesson rooted in the words of Jesus with Proverbs, Hebrew Scripture, and New Testament witness to form congregations through sustained immersion in Christ’s voice. For too long, many of us have read Jesus through the lens of Paul and then used that reading to prop up domination, exclusion, and nationalism. We have quoted about him more than we have actually listened to him. What if we changed that? This session will be lighthearted, interactive, and deeply grounded. Together we will experience a sample Sunday from the Red Letter Lectionary, hearing the Gospel, Proverbs, and companion texts as they are meant to be proclaimed. We will practice a brief lectio divina style liturgy that allows the words of Christ to settle into us, not as argument, but as formation. In a moment when Christian nationalism distorts the Gospel in service of nation and power, this is not a debate. It is a return to the living voice of Jesus. From what are we unbound? Empire shaped Christianity. For what are we unbound? A Christ shaped people.
