| Experience Description | The idea of practicing sabbath sounds good in theory but seems impossible in our overwhelmed daily lives. Who has time to set apart a full day in the way the Bible tells us we should? But at what cost do we neglect to do this important spiritual practice?
What if sabbath actually creates space in us to resist the injustice, trauma, and violence that surrounds us? What if sabbath makes us more compassionate and responsive to those in need? What if sabbath is the key to living the abundant life Jesus invites us to experience?
Are you sabbath curious? Do you wonder if a sabbath practice can transform your life and ministry? What actually is sabbath? Is it even possible to practice in modern life? What are new forms of sabbath we can create for today’s realities?
I had 40 pastors participate in a year long Sabbath Innovation Lab where we engaged in sabbath through theological reflection, regular practice, and personal and communal experimentation. Come hear about what we discovered through our sabbath experiments and how sabbath can reshape our life and ministry. |
