Charles Gupton

Charles is a photographer/filmmaker/storyteller whose career has spanned 40+ years. That experience convinced him that every person has a story that needs to be told – and heard. For the 2022-24 Wild Goose festivals, Charles and his wife, Linda, facilitated Goose workshops centered around the power of stories and how they affect our physical and emotional health. During this festival, they will also be helping co-facilitate the Relating Arts tent.

Experience DescriptionOur world is full of hurt people. Each of us has mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds that have not yet been healed. Those wounds affect how we see the world and shape the stories we tell ourselves as well as how we relate to others. We often keep our woundedness packed away, locked up deep in the basement of our souls. We keep the hurts hidden, embarrassed and afraid to appear weak or vulnerable. But wounds fester in the darkness. They need to be brought into the light and air, opened, and revealed so that they can be dealt with and healed. During this workshop, we’ll provide a safe space to open your locked up wounds through the power of sharing stories and being heard. We’ll share stories from our own woundedness and hopefully experience the healing that can emerge from being listened to with compassion and intention. Workshop participants will gather in small circles to each share a story of a wound or hurt that needs to be healed. After sharing stories, we’ll reflect together on what we’ve learned both from sharing our own story and listening to the stories of others.
